Mood Swing in Sea Tac Airport
While most people are eager to be at the airport and anticipating for a brand new trip, to me it was the most agony moment, especially in SeaTac Airport. I am not just happening once bad memories in there
Dec 10, 2011; I arrived at Sea Tac International Airport. This was my first time coming to Seattle, and I am going to realize my boarding student’s life. I was thinking that I am going to spend the next two years in this city, so I felt a little bit nervous and a little bit excited. When my aunt and I finished passing the customs and getting our luggage, we were asked to stop by the security of the airport with a lot of confusion.
They asked us to open our luggage’ they were thinking that my aunt and I were bringing more than 10,000 dollars. We told them that we didn’t have that much money, but they still didn’t believe it. They opened our entire luggage and also asked the female security to search our body. They just wanted to proof that they can find some extra money in our luggage or pocket.at that time, I felt really uncomfortable. After all of the searching, they find out that we are innocent, but it’s already two hours later. We felt very exhausted and angry. This was my first horrible experience at Sea Tac Airport.
The second time it happened was in March, 2011. Last spring break, I and my cousin Amy were going to have a one week trip to California. At the morning before going to airport, we heard a sound just like a waterfall in our house. We rushed to the second floor; we saw an unbelievable image in front of us. We saw the water spreading out of the ceiling.
We tried to stop the water, but it didn’t work. Finally, we found the way to stop the water, but the kitchen was already like a swimming pool. We needed to clean it up as soon as possible because we needed to go to the airport before 12:00p.m. After cleaning all of the stuff, we rushed out of our house and went to the airport immediately.
When we arrived at the Sea Tac Airport, we went to check in. After checking in, I notice that I forgot to bring my credit card, and I had used the credit card to book the hotel, so I needed to have it. Our plane would take off at 12:00p.m., but the time was almost 11:00a.m., so we went out to grab a taxi. We told the driver we needed to hurry to come back. I think the driver also could understand our situation, so he drove as fast as he could.
We arrive at our house at 11:00a.m. I rushed out of the taxi, and grabbed my credit card very quickly. When we arrived at the airport it was 11:30a.m., but the check in line was as long as a huge python. I asked someone to help us go through first. After we finished checking in, we rushed to the gate which was far from us. When we arrived at the gate, the gate was already closed and we saw our plane take off in front of us. At that time, I really wanted to kill myself, but we still need to solve the problem.
We went to the counter to ask for help. The airline employee told us. She was not sure if there would be empty seats on the next plane, but we could wait for the seats of people who didn’t check in. So Amy and I just waited in front of the gate until 4:00p.m. After everyone got on the plane, the woman told us, “I am sorry we don’t have an empty seat for you guys. You need to wait for the next plane which will be at 8:00p.m.” At the moment, I felt my world becoming no color, no hope just full of one feeling: EXHAUSTION.
If I had remembered to bring my credit card, we would have already gotten on the plane and maybe already laying on the bed of the hotel. But just because of my mistake, we were still stuck in Seattle. I really wanted to cry and I felt really guilty.
While we were waiting, the airline employee came to tell us we will have the empty seat on the next flight, so we could get on the plane at 8:00p.m. At that time, I felt really relaxed and extremely happy. Finally we could go to California and enjoy the sunshine, Disneyland and Universal Studios. When we arrived in California, the bad luck still followed us.
We arrived in California around 11:00p.m. Finished all the process of arrival, we found out that the hotels’ shuttle bus service was already closed, so we would have to take the taxi to the hotel. The location of the hotel was really far from airport. When we arrived at hotel, the taxi fee, including tip, was 100 dollars. When I lying on the bed of the hotel, I cannot hold my tears anymore, I started to cry. I felt super tried and super annoyed. There was just one thing in my head: “Today is totally not my day.” I spent a lot of energy and money on this day. By the way, except for the first day, we really enjoyed our spring break in California.
Although this story are talking about my bad memorizes in Seattle, but I still have a lot of fantastic memories here. As you can imagine, the bad memories always can keep in your mind very deeply. But honestly, after this terrible experience, I learned to check everything before I go out form my house. Even if I am only going to school or the supermarket, I will check my bag, my keys and my money very carefully. Trust me; you won’t want to have this kind of situation ever.
